Volunteer Village Care sends teams to Africa throughout the year. For information about Volunteering. or setting up your own team in Africa contact our Volunteer Coordinator at info@villagecare.com. You can also help VCI by donating. (*required fields) * First Name * Last Name * Email Phone Your Location                                 Home Visits: Volunteers visit children who are enrolled for assistance in their homes. Spending time in the home gives the volunteer a chance to interact with the children and their families and appreciate their challenging situation. Screening Children: Village Care trains team members to work with African volunteers and help families living in remote villages “screen” orphans in their care. The VCI child outcomes screen helps families to identify their children’s needs and to define a plan to assist the children to thrive, rather than survive. Volunteer team members are helping VCI to make certain each child enrolled in our program is getting proper assistance. Educational Seminars: Village Care volunteers are taught how to facilitate “train-the-trainers” educational sessions for village members on a variety of topics. Topics can range from HIV/AIDS prevention , to coping with loss and grief, to water purification. . American volunteers will be training community members from African villages to offer the training to their fellow community members. Facilitate Community Discussion: Village Care believes that community discussion is a great forum for change. Team members can work with African volunteers to sponsor Open Space Discussion Sessions, where the community identifies projects they will focus on to improve their overall health and economic well-being. Open Space Discussions allow the community members to put in place project goals as well as a community-driven plan for how to achieve those goals. Orphanage Visits: Volunteers may visit orphanages that are supported by Village Care. The purpose of these visits is primarily to organize recreational events for the children, and provide your emotional support. Orphanage Projects: Volunteers may implement certain projects in orphanages, such as cleaning the building, doing laundry, helping with meals, organizing requested tutoring sessions, etc. Download Forms Packing List Visa Application Medical Release
