Phillips joined Village Care in 2006. Starting with the village of Tungan Magajiya, Phillips has been a driving force in community change throughout northern Nigeria. Phillips founded Village Care Initiatives in Nigeria in 2008, and continues to work with Village Care International, Inc. promoting community development.

Jennifer served in nonprofit, leadership roles for the past 9 years. From 1999-2005, she was the Executive Director of United Advocates for Children and Families. Beginning in 2005, Jennifer was the Executive Director of the California Mental Health Services Oversight and Accountability Commission. She brings to Village Care International experience in building community-driven services and supports for children and youth, as well as a passion for working with volunteers and advocates to create communities that are capable of caring for their children.

Leading our Orphan Care initiative, Scott brings his years of experience in Early Childhood Development to the struggling orphanages in Kenya. Initiating a training curriculum for orphanage directors and working with US teams to improve the children’s homes, Scott is developing a plan to reunite orphaned children with their home villages and extended families throughout Kenya.

Growing up as an orphan has given Julius a unique perspective on life and struggle in the village setting. In 2005 Julius partnered with Village Care. Julius’ work is concentrated in Nyamusi, a small village in the Nyanza district of Kenya. He has been working with the community to improve outcomes for children in partnership with Cherry Hills Community Church in Colorado.


Sally Lunetta

As Village Care International’s first volunteer, Sally has visited Africa numerous times and continues to lead many teams in Africa as we grow. Our primary logistics administrator, Sally manages all aspects of Village Care’s volunteer base as we assist churches and organizations around the US in training for partnerships in Africa. Sally’s 25 year career in planning and logistics brings a level of expertise that is unmatched in the field. From the time the decision is made to go to Africa until your team returns to U.S. soil, Sally is the one who makes it all happen!


Suzanne Humphrey Suzanne Humphrey, Volunteer

Suzanne grew up in Oregon and California, graduated from Southern Oregon University with a degree in history, and moved on to work in Hawaii and Idaho as an archeologist. Suzanne is the newest member of our American Village Care staff and is the person to call if you are interested in joining a team going to Africa.

Kari has been officially working with Village Care since October 2007. She enjoys providing constructive criticism, and updating the website. She graduated from UC Santa Cruz in June 2007 with her BA in Linguistics.
