Plans for 2007
Every child Safe, Healthy, At Home, In School, and Doing Well in the Community
Comprehensive Community Outcomes are the focus of our work. Outcomes are the things we want to achieve and a way to measure how we are doing. Practices are how we get there. This is a measurable program of locally sustained growth based on a partnership of equals. Partners bring a measured level of resources, training, and encouragement.

From the David Glenwinkel, Director of Village Development

Two years ago we introduced a program of daily practices in Western Kenya to enhance sanitation, nutrition and health care in the home and promote education. In 2006 Village Care added the Community Outcomes program which promotes awareness and practical solutions for families at risk. This year we aecontinued the process by hosting Open Space community meetings to empower local residents to mobilize their community in order to better care for their sick and impoverished neighbors.

From the US Development Team

In June, 2007, the US Development Team and the Nyamusi Village Committee Leaders broke ground on the first Village Care Community Center. The first phase of building should be completed by the end of 2007.

The community center will be a source of education, training and information and will house teams working in this part of the Western District.

From Scott Olivett, Director of Orphan Care
Scott’s love for children is now filling Kenyan orphanages where he and his teams have embarked on a quest to create not only a training center to assist orphanage directors in how to best care for orphans, but also for teams to provide some of the physical work needed in the orphanages. One of the main projects will be to reunite orphaned children to their home villages and extended families there.

This year we will send teams to many sites in Kenya as we work to spread Village Care across the Nyamira District, population 5.5 million with over 590,000 unassisted Orphans. The Nyamira District has been devastated by HIV Aids.
